Official statistics: Average pay size goes up in Moldova

The average salary in Moldova for January-May period exceeded 2,804 lei ($218.3), which is 6.2% more than last year. However, its real size insignificantly decreased by 0.5%.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the average salary in the public sector increased by 7.7% to 2,472 lei, while in the real sector of economy it increased by 5.4% to 2,997 lei.

The average salary in the sector of education increased by 16.7% to 2,299 lei, and by 7.3% to 2,714 lei in healthcare and social protection.

The highest salaries traditionally belong to the workers of financial sector - 5,968 lei (+7.5%), heating, electric, gas and water supply - 4,541 lei (-1.6%) and transport and communications - 3,810 lei (+6.2%).

The most salary reduction came on the account of extractive industry - 8.1% to 2,828 lei and construction by 1.8% to 2,834 lei.

The lowest wages, traditionally, belong to agriculture and forestry - 1,383 lei, even though they have increase by 8.9% this year.
