Chisinau, February 20 ( INFOTAG ).  Such demand was officially lodged with the CEC by Sergiu Sirbu, the MCP representative in the Commission.

The Communists wrote in the appeal that at a recent CEC meeting, Nicolae Girbu made an insulting, daring attack against the governing party. Such incident really took place when the Commission was discussing who should begin live television debates the first.

Girbu stated then it would be incorrect and unfair to give only last 3 pre-election weeks for holding TV debates - in conditions when all the years of the Communist rule the public television did not give the opposition whatever access to TV screens, and when the Moldovan society has been so poorly informed about the parties. He also stated that the MCP does not care observing any law-stipulated timing for electioneering, and has incessantly used and is using the press and television, that President Vladimir Voronin and Prime Minister Zinaida Grechanaya would not suspend their official duties for the campaign period and are extensively using administrative resources for campaigning.

The Electoral Code stipulates that a CEC member may be dismissed if the Commission officially applies for this to the Supreme Court, and if the Court recognizes the person concerned violated the law. In 2006, an attempt was made to fire Nicolae Girbu, but it failed.
