2009-06-18/17:27/ Chisinau (IPN) The PD was assigned the sixth position in the ballot paper.

Also on Thursday, a number of political parties signed the Code of conduct establishing the rules of conducting the election campaign and covering it in the media.

But others refused to do so.

The three parliamentary opposition parties – the Liberal Party (PL), the Moldova Noastra Alliance (AMN), and the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) – and also several extra-parliamentary parties – the National Liberal Party (PNL) and the PD refused to put their signatures on the document, denouncing the failure to ensure the observance of a similar code during the campaign for the April 5 polls.

“We don't cooperate with pigs. It's a noble endeavo r, but the question is with whom? With those who disregarded the recommendations of the EU?”, fumed the AMN leader Serafim Urecheanu.

The AMN also complained to the CEC that recently unauthorized campaign posters promoting the Communists Party were noticed on some billboards, before the formal start of the election campaign.

PLDM leader Vlad Filat said his party committed to conduct a civilized campaign, and saw no point in signing a 'worthless document'.

However, CEC Secretary Iurie Ciocan reiterated the code would further be open to signing.
