СEC obliges Teleradio-Moldova to begin debates

The Central Election Commission (CEC) has obliged Teleradio-Moldova to begin pre-election debates on July 8. On Friday it took such decision, which was based on a number of applications by election competitors.

Chisinau, July 6 ( INFOTAG ). Earlier the TV Company planned to broadcast election debates from July 1 to 13.

At its sitting on Friday, the National Liberal Party was officially registered as election competitor at the elections, which will take place on July 29 and it will be в„–7 in the voting-paper.

The Central Election Commission (CEC) accepted also documents for the registration from the first independent candidate, Mayor of the Stefan-Voda village of the Lalova raion Tatiana Timbalist. In accordance with the drawing results, she will occupy the ninth position in the voting-paper after the Social Democratic Party of Moldova (SDPM), which will participate in the elections on the basis of a single slate with the Centrist Union of Moldova (CUM).

Tuesday is the deadline for submitting documents for the registration as election competitors.

The Central Election Commission (CEC) has also registered a number of observers, who will monitor the upcoming elections, in particular, 66 national observers from the League for the Protection of Human Rights in Moldova, 11 international observers - from the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE/ODIHR) and 11 observers - from the Ukrainian Embassy to Moldova.

The Central Election Commission (CEC) recalled the need of observing the electoral legislation and to suspend candidates' profession activities for those, who are civil servants. The Christian Democratic Popular Party (CDPP) was warmed for violating this provision within the fixed term.

At the parliamentary elections of April 5 the SDP obtained 3.7% of votes and Independent candidate Tatian Timbalist - 0.16%.
