20 parties have registered in the current election campaign. Many people say it is a too big number for such a small country as Moldova. At the same time, much more parties could take part in the election campaign.
Writers and historians condemn Communist authorities
Chisinau, March 30 ( INFOTAG ). The three organizations today issued a joint statement saying that "on March 26, at the border-crossing stations of Sculeni and Leuseni the Communist authorities halted, without whatever ground, and did not let to enter the republic to professors Ion Agrigoroae, Catalin Turliuc and Liviu Lazar of Iasi University, to writer and journalist Ion Barca, bibliographer Mioare Pop, and poet Ion Marjineanu from Alba Iulia, who was on his way to Chisinau to receive the Union of Writers of Moldova's premium for 2008".
"A team of security agents, sent specially to the border by Soviet militia general Vladimir Voronin, humiliated those people by keeping them [on the border] for several hours without whatever explanations. The agents confiscated the visitors' personal effects and several books by our literature classics Ion Agarbiceanu and Lucian Blaga", the document said.
Its authors stressed that by behaving in such a defiant manner, the Communist clan of Soviet general Voronin violated once again the international law, agreements signed by Moldova with the European Union and EU member states, and the very right of free movement of people.
