Dirk Schuebel recommends to improve customs services
At the opening of the International Conference of Small and Medium Businesses "Innovation, Modernization and Effective Management" on Thursday, Schuebel said that the small business in Moldova, like in Europe, must be able to access sources of financing as well as tax breaks.
"Small and medium companies need support because they are the stem of the economy", said Schuebel, mentioning the main problem that face the small business in Moldova is "the absence of entrepreneur culture, especially in villages".
The Prime Minister, Vladimir Filat, promised that government will support the small businesses through various instruments and tools as well as will implement a governmental support program in 2009-2011.
"One of the main conditions that will permit the small and medium businesses to increase their potential is to improve the quality of their products in order to meet the international ecological standards", said Filat, mentioning that the government will create regulations that would stimulate the economic growth and facilitate the access of small businesses to finances.
Melanie Marlett, the World Bank Country Manager in Moldova said the conference contributes to the dialogue improvement between the public and private sectors.
"The World Bank offers its support to the small and medium businesses which are the economical motor of the country", she said.
The conference takes place within the X International Forum of Small and Medium Businesses at MoldExpo.
