20 parties have registered in the current election campaign. Many people say it is a too big number for such a small country as Moldova. At the same time, much more parties could take part in the election campaign.
European Commissioner Dacian Ciolos arrives to Chisinau for high-level talks

The Commissioner will meet with Acting President and Speaker of the Parliament Mihai Ghimpu, Prime Minister Vlad Filat, Minister for Agriculture and Food Industry Valeriu Cosarciuc, Deputy Speaker of Parliament Serafim Urechean and the Head of the Democratic Party Marian Lupu. Dacian Ciolos will also meet with Vladimir Voronin, the Head of the Communist Party, as well as with representatives of civil society.
According to the press release fo the delegation of the European Union to the Republic Of Moldova, the main focus of his talks will be on trade relations in the field of agriculture and food processing.
"The Republic of Moldova is a country with great agricultural tradition and potential. The European Union is already an important partner for the country's agriculture and food processing industry. Our trade relations in those areas and beyond have been growing and with mutual efforts they are set to keep on growing", said Dacian Cioloş prior to the visit. "I will discuss with the Moldovan authorities how the Republic of Moldova and the European Union can continue to work together to make sure the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, in particular those in rural areas or whose living depends on agriculture, can take full advantage of the gradual integration of their country's economy with the EU's internal market", the Commissioner stressed.
Commissioner Ciolos will also visit an agricultural farm outside of Chisinau.
