20 parties have registered in the current election campaign. Many people say it is a too big number for such a small country as Moldova. At the same time, much more parties could take part in the election campaign.
European Commission allocates to Moldova 66 mln euros for economic growth and eradication of poverty
According to the European Union's official communication, the resources will be allocated within the partnership program of European Commission and Moldova in 2010.
The program presumes to support the Moldova government in stimulating the economic growth. Special attention is paid to eradication of poverty in villages. Besides, the program will support the development of energetic sector, especially to the renewable sources of energy for strengthening the energetic security in the country.
The European Commissioner, Stefan Fuele, said Moldova faces serious problems that need forceful and concentrated actions, and the EU is ready to assist Moldova in these actions. According to him, the European Commission's decision shows that the support of the EU is real and substantial.
The financial aid will be received within the Moldova - EU Neighborhood Partnership Instrument that yearly offers financial support to 17 states-partners, located along the south border of the European Union. Moldova already received similar allocations for water supply system development and sewage.
Allocations from the European Neighborhood Partnership Instrument are the main source of EU support to states-partners on the Eastern boarders of the EU with the Mediterranean. Moreover, Moldova also benefits from EU support within other programs.
The College of European Commissioners approved in March 16 out of 19 programs of the European Neighborhood Partnership Instrument, whose total budget constitutes 4.2 billion euros. According to them, the EU will offer 5.7 billion euros for strengthening the political partnership and economic integration development. The resources will be allocated from the budget of the ENPI and directed to economical and political reforms support and regional and trans-boundary cooperation. Projects within climatic changes, transport, energetic and environment sectors will be supported. For Moldova, the ENPI will allocate 273.1 million euros. More than this amount will be given to Morocco, 580.5 million euros, Ukraine 470.1 million euros, Egypt 449.3 million euros. Besides, Moldova will be able to participate in the regional program of Eastern measurement with a budget of 262.3 million euros for supporting the Eastern Partnership and interregional programs - 757.7 million euros.
