20 parties have registered in the current election campaign. Many people say it is a too big number for such a small country as Moldova. At the same time, much more parties could take part in the election campaign.

IDIS Viitorul calling to active dialog with opponents to visa facilitation

The IDIS-Viitorul Institute for Development and Social Initiatives has called upon the Government of Moldova to communicate more actively with those European Union member countries that stand against liberalization of visa-free travel regime for Moldova.

IDIS Viitorul held the presentation of its bulletin called "Liberalization for Moldova of the Visa Regime with European Union" on Thursday, and its author Leonid Litra said that Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands and Austria stand against such visa liberalization in apprehension of a massive migration of Moldovans.

He said the Government should invite to Chisinau officials and politicians from these countries to explain to them that Moldova is working its way to the European Union, to show them the situation in this republic, and let them know more about Moldova's hope for European integration, "for this can improve the country's international image".

Litra said that visa regime liberalization is more a technical question rather than a political one, the main technical challenges being security of documents (particularly those issued in the Transnistrian region) and border security.

The researcher presumes visa regime liberalization should make Moldova more attractive for Transnistria residents. Accordingly, this should facilitate country reintegration.

"For this, however, Moldova should sign with the Transnistrian region an agreement on technical cooperation in issuing civilian registry documents that would have a high degree of protection against forgery. And in the process of visa regime abolishing, Moldova should not forget its citizens residing in Transnistria", stressed Leonid Litra.

If Moldova realy want the visa-free status, need to make the first step: To stop visa and passport-control for citizens of EU.

If Moldova make this, will win much the Moldavian economy, because will come much more Europeans.
