Consulate of Romania to Balti has open the doors

The official inauguration ceremony of the General Consulate of Romania was held in Balti, friday, july 9, DECA-press agency informs.

The event brought together the Romanian and Moldovan Ministers of Foreign Affairs - Teodor Baconschi and Iurie Leanca, Romanian Ambassador to Moldova - Marius Lazurca, MPs, representatives of the local administration.

In his speech, the Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Teodor Baconschi stated that both the Consulate from Balti and Cahul "are the first sign of presence in Moldova of an EU member state". "This major achievement was due to the good cooperation with Chisinau authorities", Baconschi specified. He said "people needed more and more these consulates after the Small Cross Border Movement Agreement had entered into force".

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Iurie Leanca stated that „things our opponents were afraid of came true". The event has historical connotation for it marks Moldo-Romanian relations. Leanca said "Moldo-Romanian relations gradually develop", and "things go well", insuring "things will go better and better".

The general consul of Romanian mission to Balti is Nicanor Dumitru Teculescu.

The Consulate of Balti has got 22 employees. It will start working on July 12. Citizens will be provided the entire amount of consular services.

The Consulate of Romania to Balti will cover such areas as: Balti town, districts of Rabniţa, Briceni, Rascani, Glodeni, Sangerei, Donduseni, Soroca, Drochia, Telenesti, Edinet, Camenca, Falesti, Ocnita, Floresti, Rezina and Soldanesti.

The two Romanian consulates inaugurated on Friday were open very quickly - in less than eight months, as soon as the Romanian President Traian Basescu had issued a decree in this context.
