EBRD loses optimism

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has reduced its growth forecast of the Moldovan GDP in 2011 to 3.5% from 4.2% previously, and has left unchanged the forecast for this year - 4%.

According to the EBRD annual review of developing countries in East and Central Europe and Central Asia, the Moldovan economy continues its rehabilitation thanks to the international financial organizations' support and gastarbeiters' remittances growth. However, the nearest growth perspectives are limited because of a shaky political situation.

On the whole, the EBRD has reduced the growth forecast of GDP in developing countries of East Europe and Caucasus in 2011 to 3.9% from 4.2%. The International Monetary Fund predicts for 2010 the Moldovan GDP to grow by 2.5%, in 2011 - by 3.6%, in 2012 - by 5%. The World Bank calculations are practically the same.
