20 parties have registered in the current election campaign. Many people say it is a too big number for such a small country as Moldova. At the same time, much more parties could take part in the election campaign.
Court to solve scandal related to Plahotniuc - Mihai Ghimpu
Mihai Ghimpu, who is a jurist, said in an interview that he is very attentive to all accusations, but it must be proved.
"The accusations against Plahotniuc - are just some citizens' opinions. The right to free speech functions in our state, but everyone must be responsible for his words and actions. As I understood, a subpoena occurred after those accusations, therefore, the justice must solve this case", Ghimpu said.
According to him, the election campaign is guilty of involving his colleague (leader of the Democratic Party of Moldova Marian Lupu) from the Alliance for European Integration (AEI) in this scandal.
"When we proposed to adopt the new Constitution to avoid early elections, we acted in this way, because Moldova needs political stability, not an attacking campaign, especially, when one of accused is the alliance member. In spite of this, we have to go ahead to keep this alliance. The accusations brought against this businessman are not concerned to the AEI, and accusers must assume all responsibility", the acting President said.
Infotag's dossier: Ex-Presidential counselor Sergiu Mocanu accused businessman Vladimir Plahotniuc that he supposedly controls many state institutions, that he also induced Marian Lupu to leave the MCP and he sponsored the DPM's election campaign. In response, Plahotniuc filed a suit against Mocanu; and Lupu suppose that behind Mocanu's back stands Prime Minister Vladimir Filat.
