Reform of security and defense system becomes component part of Moldova – NATO partnership
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Iurie Leanca said the plan was updated with the aim of adjusting it to the state's priorities in such areas as strengthening the democratic control of the armed forces, scientific and energy cooperation and response measures in emergencies.
"The amended IPAP contains a distinct objective regarding the reform of the country's security and defense system, aimed at increasing the system's transparency and efficiency and reaching the Western standards. Special emphasis is laid on military training and preparation for emergencies," Leanca said.
The minister also said that the updated IPAP was supported by the involved national institutions whose objections and proposals were accepted when finalizing the plan under the aegis of the national commission for IPAP implementation and the NATO's International Staff.
The Moldova - NATO Individual Partnership Action Plan was adopted on July 6, 2006.
