Moldova's Consulate in Iasi will be opened in several weeks

Moldova's Consulate in Iasi will start work in several weeks. The repair works in the building that will house the Consulate are close to being completed, info-Prim Neo reports.

The inauguration was to take place on September 1, but the event was postponed owing to financial problems. Prime Minister Vlad Filat and Romania's President Traian Basescu visited the Consulate's head office on August 19.

Traian Basescu said now that the two countries opened new Consulates his dream came true. "During the last several months, we made everything possible for the Romanians living in Moldova to be able to regain the Romanian nationality. The process has accelerated," he said.

Vlad Filat thanked the Government of Romania for its contribution to opening the new Consulate and for its care for the Moldovan citizens.

The Moldovan consul in Iasi Cezara Ghetu said the repair works will be soon finalized and the Moldovan citizens will be able to use the services of the Consulate. According to her, the announcement about the inauguration of the Consulate will be made in several weeks.
