According to Russian media, Gennady Onishenko said that 300,000 litres of Moldovan wine products has entered Russian territory through Solntsevo customs station in the last week.

"We will track the re-export of illegal product groups and Moldovan wine through Kazakhstan and Belarus," he said and added that the production of wine is the main industry for the Moldovan economy.

"They should start taking care of it, at last. They do not do anything and we have to return it. We load up our laboratories, we strain our customs officers. What for? It is not necessary to do this," the Chief Federal Sanitary Inspector said.

He explained that the RosPotrebNadzor is not adopting a definitive ban on the import of wine from Moldova only because it "understands our Russian business".

Gennady Onishenko said therefore intensive consultations are being held with Moldova.

Infotag's dossier: A delegation of Moldovan experts was in Moscow last week; they have considered wine-quality control measures. Russia informed its partners of the Customs Union - Belarus and Kazakhstan that the Russian Federation banned Georgian wine supply and also that Moldovan wine imports is restricted - it can cross Russian borders in only a place - Solntsevo customs station.
