The Moldovan Ministry of Defense has reported that 8 Moldovan officers have been included into a multinational brigade that will be acting in Sweden.

The exercise, to be held in the framework of the NATO Partnership for Peace Program, is called to train the military, the police and local authorities how to better organize and conduct a peacekeeper operation under the United Nations auspices in a crisis zone.

On the whole, the Viking exercise will involve 1.8 thousand military and some 5 hundred civilians to be deployed in Sweden, Germany, Austria, the United States, Ireland, Georgia, Finland, and in an African Union member country.

Infotag's dossier: Moldova joined the NATO Partnership for Peace Program in 1994, when it became the Program's 12th member country. By now, the membership has grown to 26 countries of Western Europe, some former Soviet republics, Central Asia and other regions.
