At a press conference on Tuesday, Minister Vasile Bumacov said that rains already damaged a number of wheat areas in southern and central zones of Moldova.

"The rains and strong winds threw down grain, which due to rains, cold weather and winds can not become straight and grows moldy. If within several days, it does not get warmer, we may face large losses of winter wheat harvest", Bumacov said.

He said that specialists assess the primary group crop condition, as well as condition of other crops.

"We hope for a favorable weather that will allow us continue the mowing. If weather conditions will improve, one will remove rich harvest of crops, enough to cover domestic needs and exports", Bumacov said.
