DP ministers may quit government only all together

Prime Minister Vladimir Filat's attempts to remove the Deputy Premier, Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar from the coalition AEI Government are doomed to failure, is telling a source in the Democratic Party, which, according to the governing coalition's algorithm, is in charge of the Ministry of Economy.

The source said that Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar may quit the Government only on one principal condition: either all DP ministers resign, or none.

In his words, the Democratic Party shall never agree to abolish the Government Presidium, which Prime Minister Vladimir Filat wants to do.

"Such structures as Government Presidiums exist in most countries that have coalition governments", said the source.

The DP leadership has an opinion that the Government Presidium lets the coalition parties solve acute questions by sending to Government meetings only such decisions which have been verified and agreed upon by the Alliance for European Integration.

The Democratic Party has 4 representatives in the AEI Government headed by Premier Filat, a Liberal Democrat: Valeriu Lazar; Minister of Informational and Telecommunication Technologies Pavel Filip; Minister of Labor, Social Protection and Family Valentina Buliga; and Minister of Regional Development and Construction Marcel Raducan.
