20 parties have registered in the current election campaign. Many people say it is a too big number for such a small country as Moldova. At the same time, much more parties could take part in the election campaign.
It is too late to discuss agreement on local alliances, Vlad Filat
He said the opportunity to make democratic alliances in the 25 districts where it was possible was missed. "This is also a lesson that we all should learn," Vlad Filat said after the July 20 meeting of the Council of the Alliance for European Integration (AEI).
"The proposal we submitted was a just one and the reality proves its justness. The people were elected in every district separately and we were to give them the right to decide how to form these alliances," said Vlad Filat.
The leader of the Democratic Party Marian Lupu avoided pronouncing on the issue.
After the June 5 local elections, the components of the AEI agreed to sign an agreement on the formation of local alliances and distribution of seats on second-level councils. But they could not reach a consensus and the agreement wasn't signed.
