20 parties have registered in the current election campaign. Many people say it is a too big number for such a small country as Moldova. At the same time, much more parties could take part in the election campaign.
Moldova will obtain financing of developed countries for fighting climate change
The Chair of the Environmental Movement's Chisinau branch office - Vladimir Garaba - said that before 2012 developing countries, including Moldova, will benefit from means of a 30-billion-euro fund for projects aimed at reduction of greenhouse gas concentration in atmosphere.
"These means will be spent for the plantation of new trees, implementation of projects on solar energy use, production of biogas, heat from vegetable waste; thus we will no longer pollute air by burning leaves and other plant remains at fields, and will begin ecologically use them", Garaba said.
According to him, work on 6 similar projects is performed in full power in Moldova, including on plantation of trees on over 14 thousand hectares of degraded soils; on creation of healthy environmental condition in the country.
"As far as Moldova emits less carbon dioxide in atmosphere as compared with other countries, the country can undertake instead of investment a part of the share of Germany, where the standard of carbon dioxide emission exceeds by about 20%", he said.
In January 2010, Moldova joined the Copenhagen agreement and pledged to cut down greenhouse gas emission by 25% by 2020, which is over 3 million tons of carbon dioxide.
