20 parties have registered in the current election campaign. Many people say it is a too big number for such a small country as Moldova. At the same time, much more parties could take part in the election campaign.

Tarlev dethroning Communist's myths

The Social Democratic Party of Moldova (SDPM) and the Centrist Union of Moldova (CUM) have criticized the Communist Party's calumnious myths and false statements.
INFOTAG, 9 July 2009, 19:28

Chisinau, July 9 ( INFOTAG ). On Thursday, at a news conference, the Leaders of SDP and the CUM Dumitru Braghis and Vasile Tarlev said that the Communists demand from their members to speak only good things about the period of their rule.

In Tarlev's words, one the Communists' myths is the increase of pensions and salaries.

The State, but not the Communist Party raises pensions and salaries and not at the cost of the Party's money, but at the cost of the citizens' deductions. And each political entity, which has power, must raise pensions and salaries", he said.

In the ex-Premier's words, after the elections of April 5 the salaries dropped by 40%, though the Communists say that they are increasing.

"Before the elections the Communists raised pensions by 18% and the salaries - by 20%, in order to obtain more votes, but the salary of a University professor constituted not 2500 lei, but 1500 lei", he said.

In Braghis's and Tarlev's opinion, Democratic Party Leader Marian Lupu is the Communists' project of Moldova, as he refuses to unite the political center, which is extremely important today.

The Centrists designated European integration, change of the Communist Party's political ideology, the absence of any economic crisis in Moldova before the elections of April 5 among the Communists' other political myths and promise to continue this list at their next news conferences. The Social Democratic Party of Moldova (SDPM) and the Centrist Union of Moldova (CUM) will participate in the early parliamentary elections under the motto: "No to Extremism and Unlawfulness!".
