Compensations to victims of Stalinist repressions

The Moldovan Ministry of Finance has remitted to regional administrations nearly 14 million lei (US$1.2 million) from the State Budget in targeted compensations to victims of Stalinist repressions of the 1940s.

Chisinau, July 23 ( INFOTAG ). Of this sum, 10.1 million lei is intended for repaying scheduled 2009 compensations, namely 32,700 lei to the raion of Cahul, 1.3 million lei - of Donduseni, 287,000 lei - Edinet, 40,000 - Hincesti, 66,200 lei - Orhei, 134,000 lei - Rezina, 2.9 million lei - Riscani, 608,500 - Singerei, 706, 400 lei - Straseni, 582,500 lei - Taraklia, 3.38 million lei - Chisinau, and 53,700 lei for the autonomous region of Gagauzia.

The rest means constitute the second tranche of compensations for year 2008.

Such compensations to the victims of Stalinist deportations are paid systematically in accordance with a corresponding law of 1992 to thus repair damage for their lost property.
