Moldovan delegation to Joint Control Commission seeks explanations
2009-07-24/14:58/ Chisinau (IPN) The Moldovan authorities said the arrest of the police officer was illegal as neither the military commander nor the Unified Military Command were informed and this is a serious infringement of the JCC’s decisions, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Moldova.
While discussing methods of making cooperation between the law enforcement bodies in the Security Zone more efficient, the Moldovan delegation asked the Transnistrian delegation to intervene and release the three police officers detained by Transnistrian security officers on July 14. The Transnistrian delegation demanded that the given fact should not be included in the Commissio n’s proceedings.
After heated discussions, the JCC instructed the Unified Military Command to submit proposals for solving the problems concerning the cooperation between the law enforcement bodies in the Security Zone until September 10.
According to the Transnistrian news agency “Olvia-press”, at the same meeting the Commission appointed Russia’s Alexei Timashov as head of the Unified Military Command.
Another issue discussed was the activity of the working group entrusted with the task of determining the numerical composition and structure of the law enforcement bodies in the Security Zone. As there was no consensus, the given issue was transferred for the next meeting.
