20 parties have registered in the current election campaign. Many people say it is a too big number for such a small country as Moldova. At the same time, much more parties could take part in the election campaign.

Basarabeasca and Donduseni voters most active

As many as 782,700 voters or 29.9% of the persons with the right to took part in elections by 12.45. The highest turnout of voters was recorded in Basarabeasca district – 42.5%, while the lowest turnout in Hancesti district – 25.7%, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the Central Election Commission (CEC).

2009-07-29/13:31/ Chisinau (IPN) A number of 167,407 persons or 27.5% of the voters made their choice in Chisinau. The turnout in the municipality of Balti was 26.0% (27,611 persons), in Rezina – 39.1%, in Ocnita – 38.8%, in Taraclia – 37%.

The CEC secretary Iurie Ciocan said that the voter turnout is better than when the elections were held on Sunday.

For the elections to be validated, the turnout should be 1/3 of the voters.
