LDPM leader Vlad Fialt meets ex-premier Ion Sturza
On Monday, leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (LDPM) Vlad Filat had a meeting with Ex-Premier Ion Sturza. They had lunch together in one of the Chisinau restaurants.
When asked by journalists several days ago, whether Sturza might be the candidate of the ruling coalition for the Presidential post, Filat answered that Sturza has all the necessary qualities for being the President.
In his turn, Sturza said that he feels very comfortably in the business environment, but evaded answering concretely the question about his reaction to the proposal of the Presidential post.
A number of political observers consider that Sturza can be a compromise figure for the Presidential post, if the democratic parties and the Communists support him.
The opposition has 53 out of 101 Parliamentary mandates. It is enough to form the leading organs of the Parliament and the Government, but they need eight more votes for the election of the President.
