Fields of Terror - the New Slave Trade in the Heart of Europe
Poor people are being lured from Eastern Europe to the Czech Republic for forced labour. Some of the worst gangsters are now on trial but there is no sign of this evil trade coming to an end.
Mihai Ghimpu: If not today, than tomorrow or the day after tomorrow Marian Lupu will become the President of the Republic of Moldova
He urged MPs to be calm and optimistic as, in his opinion, Marian Lupu would be elected President if not today, than tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. "More likely the day after tomorrow", specified the Speaker.
Communists announced that they would not participate in the election of the head of state. In her speech within the plenary meeting of the Parliament, the Chair of PCRM faction Maria Postoico condemned, as she said, "offensive attitude of the current Government towards the Moldovan people".
"On 10 November, PCRM faction presented clear arguments that it is impossible to vote the only candidate. Today, after almost one month, we face a sad fact. We are proposed the same candidate. Neither Alliance, nor PD or the candidate himself took into account our arguments. Despite the fact that PD has made attempts to convince everyone of its pro-Moldovan, pro-state positions, its entire activity reduces to docile support of radical parties", declared the leader of Communist MPs. According to Maria Postoico, "the PD leader had an extraordinary chance to come out of this situation with dignity, to create a coalition with PCRM to defend our native land".
"It would be a betrayal of the constituency, of the country, of ourselves to vote for the Alliance candidate. We do not sell our native land and will not allow others to do that", said Postoico in conclusion. After the speech, Communist MPs left the sitting hall, and the Chairman of the Parliament announced a break to prepare the voting procedure.
The MP Victor Stepaniuc declared to the press that he would try to convince his colleagues to vote. Communist MPs took themselves off to the adjoining room.
