NIF contributes €10 million for SME support in Eastern Neighbourhood

Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Belarus Moldova and Ukraine will benefit of european support.

The European Union, through the Neighbourhood Investment Facility (NIF), has contributed €10 million to support micro and small enterprises (MSEs) in the Eastern Neighbourhood region through the ENBF (European Neighbourhood Fund), a dedicated European Neighbourhood Window under the European Fund for Southeast Europe (EFSE).

An EFSE press release said the expansion to four new countries of the Eastern Neighbourhood region - Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Belarus - and additional financial resources for Moldova and Ukraine would bring much-needed financing to MSEs. Over the next five years, the ENBF is expected to provide financing to banks and microfinance institutions in a total amount of €300 million in the in the 6 Eastern neighbouring countries in addition to up to €1 billion envisaged for the region of Southeast Europe.
