The Government of Moldova expects that the talks will start with the discussion of political and security matters and will continue the next months with the extensive and comprehensive free trade regime and the liberalization of the visa regime between Moldova and the EU.

The first discussions on the opening of the talks were held in Chisinau while Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt had been in Chisinau on a visit in October.

The discussions continued at the December meeting of the Moldova-EU Partnership and Cooperation Council, where there was issued a joint statement on the future political agreement between Moldova and the EU.

The representative of the Swedish EU presidency Frank Belfrage said earlier that the future agreement between Moldova and the European Union will be ambitious and will contribute to Moldova's political association and economic integration into the EU.
