Fields of Terror - the New Slave Trade in the Heart of Europe
Poor people are being lured from Eastern Europe to the Czech Republic for forced labour. Some of the worst gangsters are now on trial but there is no sign of this evil trade coming to an end.
Chisinau authorities will start repairing roads damaged by frost earlier
The decision was announced by Mayor General of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca at a City Hall's meeting on February 8, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The mayor demanded that the clean arteries start being examined immediately, while those covered by ice and snow when it becomes warmer. The repair works can be initiated only after the temperatures rise to plus 6-10 degrees Celsius. Until then, all the preparations must be finished and there must be identified the necessary financial resources.
Veaceslav Tarna, the head of the Public Transport and Communications Division, said the roads this winter have been seriously affected and the repair works will be 2-3 times larger in volume. He estimated that the works will cost about 635 million lei.
According to Tarna, 250,000 square meters of road were repaired last year. The local authorities have the obligation to repair 1 million square meters a year, but there are no funds for this. A maximum of 540,000 square meters were repaired five years ago.
