20 parties have registered in the current election campaign. Many people say it is a too big number for such a small country as Moldova. At the same time, much more parties could take part in the election campaign.
The former governing authorities asked EU for financial support "to overcome the consequences of financial crisis"
The documents signed by Moldovan officials of the former communist governing authorities, published on Tuesday on „PRO TV Chisinau" web site, show Republic of Moldova asked European institutions for financial aid.
In one of the documents, the communist governance addresses to the European Commission with the request to get additional financial aid of about 300 million euros "to overcome the consequences of the financial crisis".
„The trend to decrease incomes and need to cover the most serious expenses, the shortage of the national public budget for the year of 2009-2010 cover 9% of GDP. The possibilities to remove this shortage of financial resources cover 6, and respectively, 3% of GDP", the letter signed by the former Prime Minister Zinaida Greceanai to Benita Ferrero-Woldner, European Commissioner for External Relations and European Neighborhood Policy, and Joaquin Almunia, Commissioner responsible for Economic and Monetary Affairs, states.
Mentioning the infrastructure was at the lowest possible level, the considerable fiscal burden and the failure of the growth of income taxes, Greceanai recognizes in the letter addressed to European officials that Moldova needed financial support from outside.
