180m lei needed to repair roads in Chisinau
According to him, the weather conditions this winter seriously damaged the roads, emptying the holes that had been stopped up during the last ten years. "The osculating temperatures this year affected the roads much more seriously than last year," Veaceslav Terna said.
The municipal road management service Exdrupo is covering the holes with gravel and will start asphalting the streets when the weather permits. The streets on which the public units of transport run will be the first to be repaired.
"This time, we will have to attentively monitor the quality of the works so that we do not have to stop the holes up again in a year," said Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca. "80-90% of the roads in Chisinau are in need of repair. We do not have money to asphalt them fully, but will try to repair most of them."
So far, the road workers have covered holes on 3,300 square meters of road. The authorities are now calculating the costs of repairing the streets, including the pluvial drainage channels.
