This is Petrenco's reply to the Spokesman Ghimpu's opinion regarding the gaps existent in the Consitution. Petrenco said, there is no unique position referring to a possible constitutional reform within the Alliance for European Integration (AEI). According to Petrenco, AEI should not violate the recommendations of the Venice Committee that had suggested the modification of the Constitution is not welcome in the current political situation.

PLDM MP Vitalie Nagacevschi stated in this context "the representatives of the Venice Committed launched proposals, but the solution belongs to the state. The Venice Committee only assists the settlement of the problem", Nagacevschi said.

As for overcoming the political crisis, Grigore Petrenco stated PCRM accepts only the organization of anticipated elections as "the legislation states". PCRM is ready to negotiate only on the changes issued by article 78 of the Constitution referring to the procedure of election of the head of state, so that these changes have impact on the activity of the future legislative forum. PCRM thinks the return to the procedure of election of president through direct vote of by the population would mean "a step backward in the democracy development", Grigore Petrenco also stated.
