European Commission and Great Britain to grant money to Moldova for paying out compensations
On Wednesday, the document on the launching of this program was signed by Prime Minister Vlad Filat and Head of the European delegation to Moldova Dirk Schuebel.
In his words, a part of these resources will be used for paying out social compensations, as a result of the tariff increase and the remaining part will be used for supporting the budget.
The Premier declared that 260 thousand of low-income citizens will receive these compensations. Earlier the Government announced the allocation of 82 million lei for compensations in the connection with the growth of the tariffs on gas, electric power and heating.
On Wednesday, Minister of Labor, Social Protection and Family Valentina Buliga said after a governmental sitting that compensation will be paid out for five months of the 2010 heating season.
"Pensioners, recipients of social allowances and low-income employees will receive compensations. The money will be paid directly to citizens, who, as we hope, will use them for paying for public utilities bills, but not for any other purpose. Despite some delay in granting compensations, they will undoubtedly reach the recipients", Buliga reassured.
She asserts that owing to the assistance rendered by the European Union and Great Britain the compensation will increase up to 130 lei ($10) a month per each recipient.
