20 parties have registered in the current election campaign. Many people say it is a too big number for such a small country as Moldova. At the same time, much more parties could take part in the election campaign.

Representatives of the Moldovan Embassy to the Russian Federation told Infotag that the initiative of organizing a refuge was put forward by the Congress of Moldovan Diasporas (CMD).

This public organization, which was set up at the end of 2009, is concerned about more and more frequent cases of deceiving citizens on the part of employers, infringement upon their rights, threats to their health and, sometimes, lack of financial resources to buy means of sustenance or to return home.

CMD Chairman Alexandr Calinin explained that the matter is of a social center, where temporary financial and legal assistance will be rendered to Moldovan citizens, who find themselves temporarily in a difficult situation.

The CMD considers the cooperation with the Church as an important component of its charity activities. The Church has already the experience to support their parishioners, who come from Moldova. Thus, the Metropolitan See organizes church services in the Moldovan language in one of the churches of the Novospassky monastery.

Russia is one of the most popular countries among Moldovan gastarbeiters. According to the informal data, up to 500 thousand Moldovans work in Russia on a temporary basis.
