Diaspora asks the Chisinau Government to liberalize the airline transport market

A number of associations of Moldovan citizens from abroad signed an open letter addressed to the Chisinau authorities regarding "the acceleration of airline market liberalization by removing existent barriers in the access of other airline operators and entrance of new European operators on the market".
DECA-press, 11 March 2010, 16:55

In the letter addressed to the Alliance for European Integration, the authors assert "Moldova is currently the most expensive flight destination in Europe". Thus, the flights to Chisinau are a few times more expensive than to any other European state".

The authors of the letter think "the prices to airplane tickets are in fact a direct tax for the diaspora", thus forcing Moldovans from abroad to come seldom to their native country.

The authors of the letter are as follows: Republic of Moldova citizens' Community to the United Kingdom, Moldovan Community to Quebec, Basarabians' Club from Belgium, the Social-Cultural Integration Association „Cittadini moldavi in Italia" and other associations.
