Government hires nine European consultants

Nine Moldovan state institutions will be assisted by high-ranking European officials during a year. The consultants were selected by a contest organized by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) as part of a project financed by the European Union. The official Chisinau asked the EU to support the reforms under implementation in Moldova.

According to Ludmila Tiganu, spokeswoman for the UNDP, the consultants will assist the State Chancellery, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, the State Main Tax Inspectorate and the Public Procurement Agency.

The consultants will be introduced on March 20, when the project titled "EU Public Policy Counseling Mission for Moldova" will start. The project will be completed in a a year. Ludmila Tiganu said the consultants have been hired and are now gathering documentary evidence.

The jury of the contest included representatives of the Government of Moldova and the European Union's Delegation in Chisinau.

According to certain sources, about 400 European experts competed for the post of consultant for Moldova, including a former Prime Minister of an EU member state and several European ambassadors who worked in Chisinau.
