20 parties have registered in the current election campaign. Many people say it is a too big number for such a small country as Moldova. At the same time, much more parties could take part in the election campaign.

Viorel Badea: the organization of early elections in Moldova would be a fundamental mistake

The Romanian Senator, Viorel Badea, stated that Romania supports the decision of the Alliance for European Integration (AEI) to hold a referendum in order to amend the Constitution, and the diplomatic representatives who do not support the AEI initiative do not know very well what is happening in the Republic of Moldova.

„The Romanian State supports the decision of AEI members" the Vice President of the Foreign Policy Committee of the Romanian Senate, Viorel Badea, stated on Monday in a press conference in Chisinau.

According to him, the members of the Alliance know better than anyone else what happens in the Republic of Moldova. „In addition, they have the responsibility, because they won the elections and must arrange everything in order to be able to move to the next stage", Badea said.

„I think that it would be a fundamental mistake to organize early elections in the Republic of Moldova, because a possible result of these elections will not reflect the needs of the Republic of Moldova to go forward. If early elections are organized in time of crisis, they do not have a fair result", said Viorel Badea.

In the Senator's opinion, the diplomatic representatives who do not support the initiative of the AEI still do not know very well what is happening in the Republic of Moldova.

He said that he will discuss with the Romanian Members of the European Parliament to inform EU Member States and to make them understand what is going on in the Republic of Moldova. „I think that there is a communication issue here. Moldova was never more open and never had a greater interest in European integration", the official stated.

In another context, Badea said that Romania has made necessary steps to exclude the need to submit proof of a bank account with 500 euro to obtain Romanian visa. „These discussions have started some time ago and I think that, in a few months, we will be able to say that there is no need for such nonsense", he declared.

The press conference was held on the occasion of the inauguration of the parliamentary office of the Senator. The office will work three days a week, for two hours and then the schedule will be extended, depending on the influx of citizens. The petitions and the requests for audience will be received by an adviser, and the senator will travel to Chisinau every 4-5 weeks, for two days when he will meet people who have requested an audience.

Viorel Badea announced that, in partnership with the Chisinau municipality, information offices will be open, where citizens can obtain information. Subsequently, such offices could be opened in other localities of the Republic of Moldova.

He also mentioned the need to increase the economic activity between the two countries and, especially, the Romanian investments in the Republic of Moldova. „We will encourage the companies from Romania to invest in the Republic of Moldova", Badea said, adding that a business seminar will be soon organized.
